2018 Political Action RSVP

Postdocs are joining with other labor and community groups to support research-friendly and worker-friendly candidates and policies in the upcoming November elections. We have the chance to elect the most science-supportive Congress in 8 years - bolstering our chances of seeing better budgets at the agencies that directly and indirectly pay most of our salaries. We have the chance to push back against the rent profiteering that has many Postdocs and their families struggling to afford a home to rent. We also want to support Tony Thurmond for Superintendent of Public Instruction so that we have a pro-worker Superintendent sitting on the UC Board of Regents and guiding state education policy.

"There’s a direct relationship between the ballot box and the bread box, and what the union fights for and wins at the bargaining table can be taken away in the legislative halls."
– Walter Reuther, UAW Constitutional Convention 1970
