Discover a Gospel - 9th Grade Advent & Christmas Home Lesson
If you haven't received instructions from Pastor Haak via email, please contact him for a printable document with the directions and questions you'll need to complete this home lesson.
Read, listen to, or watch one of the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.
Below are possible ways to find resources. If you have any questions or issues, let Pastor Haak know.
Option 1. Read
Suggested versions:
- English Standard Version (ESV)
- Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB or CSB)
- Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Use a hard copy or an on-line version. Even the longest one by number of chapters (Matthew, with 28) can be read by doing just a chapter a day!

Option 2. Listen
Audio of the above versions can be found at:
https://www.bible.com/bible/59/JHN.1.ESV
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+1&version=ESV

Those links go to John 1 in the ESV, but you can do other Gospels or versions using the menus at the top of the websites. Click the speaker icon on the page to listen.

Trinity also has two CD audio Bibles (NIV) in our library - CDs B1 and B3.

The CDs can be found in the church library on the first bookshelf on the left as you approach from the sanctuary.

Option 3. Watch
You MUST watch one of the versions listed below, as they are FULL VERSIONS of the Gospel account. (Or, if you think you've found another version, please check it with Pastor Haak first.)

- Gospel of Matthew:
1. https://youtu.be/teKVkLFfKA8?t=83
OR
2. DVDs 20 or 52/53 (2-disc set) in the Trinity library.

- Gospel of John:
1. https://www.jesusfilm.org/watch/life-of-jesus-gospel-of-john.html/english.html
OR
2. DVDs 19 or 58 in the Trinity library. (Make sure you watch the 3-hour version.)

The DVDs can be found in the church library on the first bookshelf on the left as you approach from the sanctuary.

Again, make sure you have the printable handout so you can write down your answers as you read, listen, or watch (or see below to write down the questions on your own).
Questions will just use the word "read," but they all apply, whether you read, listened, or watched.
