Sandra Ober : “From input to imagination: how multisensory storytelling transforms beginner French classrooms.”

This session begins with a short, immersive mini-lesson drawn from the Leo & Marie storyworld. We’ll explore how rhythm, visuals and narrative reduce cognitive load and allow even complete beginners to engage meaningfully with French. The focus is on practical strategies teachers can use immediately to build confidence, creativity and emotional connection — the foundations of long-term language learning.

Michaël will perform a bilingual poem and discuss poetry-driven activities designed to improve student engagement and improve confidence in productive skills in French. He will also describe what he can offer schools as a freelance educator -leading dynamic workshops that blend culture, creativity, and communication. Finally he will invite state school teachers to get in touch for a chance to take part in an ACE funded project.

This session, suitable for teachers KS2 to 5, is a taster of the CPD: “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Sustainable languages teaching with creativity and fun” delivered at Goldsmiths University, Kings College London, Institut Français and the FLAM conference.

Catherine Ames will also talk about the French Club she runs in her secondary school.
