We are so grateful for your interest in The Pro-Voice Project's upcoming writing workshop, a guided, supportive space to practice telling personal stories to open dialogue on abortion and build empathy and reduce stigma. Reproductive Writes, Boise, will be facilitated by writer, co-founder, and Executive Director Jen Jackson Quintano. Please bring whatever you are most comfortable writing with, be it a notebook or Macbook.
Our goal is to create a welcoming, safe space for you to explore your personal story related to reproductive decisions—even if that sharing goes no further than your own page. The goal is simply to fortify your voice, giving you the words and connection to your story so you can carry it into the world in whatever way makes sense to you.
To make our time together fruitful and positive, we have a few questions to inform our planning (see below). We also have some ground rules:
RULES OF CONDUCT
- Other participants' stories are not ours to share. They will be held safely within the container of our time together.
- Know that, while we are together, the space is yours. Freely avail yourself of the bathrooms, snacks, and the chance to stretch your legs. This is challenging mental and emotional work, so your body should be comfortable throughout.
- The space is yours and it includes others. Do your best to not distract your fellow writers.
- When others are sharing, please withhold advice or critical commentary. Respectful questions and reflections are allowed.
- When someone is sharing, listen deeply. Meet vulnerability with respect.
- Sharing is appreciated but not required. Feel no pressure. Exert no pressure.
Thank you for registering for Reproductive Writes!
