Thank you for your interest in our second annual Community Tree Decorating Contest sponsored & organized by Hopewell Borough Economic Development Committee & The Sourland Conservancy.
Please fill out the form below to participate in this event/contest. Sign-ups for the contest will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. (Rolling submissions will be accepted after the deadline until all trees are claimed.)
Your group will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of sign-up confirming receipt of your registration, information on the location of your group's designated tree, and other details & guidelines. Groups may begin to decorate their designated tree as of Saturday, November 16th and decorating must be complete by Friday, November 29. Voting will open to the community on Saturday, November 30 (Small Business Saturday).
Guidelines:
- Tightly secure your decorations! I recommend having a ton of extra floral wire to hook on decor and wrap the wire down the length of the bough or around the trunk.
- Decorations can be added to the tree & inside the planter, but designs should not go beyond the perimeter of the planter/tree. Sidewalks must remain clear for pedestrian safety.
- Sustainable decorations only. Decorations must be made of natural and biodegradable materials. No plastic or glass decorations will be permitted. Glass decorations pose a problem for public safety if they fall and break.
- Be creative! Your tree does not need to represent a particular holiday - showcase your creativity & your group pride!
- You are required to maintain your tree through January 15, and cleaned up no later than Jan 20th - check on your tree weekly (twice even!) and make sure that all your ornaments are still secured properly and that it is still festive. Please be aware that your trees will be accessible to the public at all hours. Do not decorate with anything precious or that you would not want to go missing.
- The EDC will provide lights for your tree - no additional lights will be permitted.
