Parental Consent Form for SEL Services

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) remains an integral part of a student’s education.  It is a process in which we all learn and acquire a set of life skills that we need to become successful academically, emotionally, and socially.

KCSD is proud to announce the addition of a Transitional Coach (TC) to selected schools as a part of the (SEL) Social and Emotional Learning Department.  The addition of the TC along with the SEL staff will deliver a strong evidenced and research based curriculum to our students to address their social and emotional needs. The Transitional Coach (TC) and staff from the SEL Department are qualified professionals who have acquired advanced education and received appropriate training to provide the appropriate resources and services for students in KCSD.

Students will be referred to the SEL Department for needed resources and services to enhance their emotional or social development and well-being. The behaviors listed below will result in a referral for services:

1. Bullying (includes cyberbullying)

2. Exposure to any trauma (abuse or neglect)

3. Threats to harm self (verbal and/or in writing)

4. Threats to harm others (verbal and/or in writing and includes posturing)

5. The use or possession of any substances (to include, but not limited to any alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, marijuana, vaping and paraphernalia)
