Workshop: Building and Finding Your Own Power
Power is your ability to act.
Every successful social change movement in US history has had a key element of people power and mass direct action; abolition, women’s suffrage, workers, civil rights, anti-Viet Nam war, anti-nuclear, Central America solidarity, global justice, and other recent movements.
In this workshop, you will learn about the three types of power. We'll talk about conducting a power analysis and mapping to determine who has the power in any given situation, and how communities can work together to build their own power.
Understanding this is the key to creating strategies to build the power of grassroots groups to fight for and win social change.
