2023 Committee Member Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Form
Many Hands, Inc. is committed to acting with integrity in all our relationships and in selecting grant recipients through an honest, transparent and fair process. Our Conflict of Interest Policy requires disclosure of relationships between our committee members with any grant applicant or potential grant applicant as well as a confidentiality requirement that pertains to both applicants and any personal information of its members. Prior to participating on a Many Hands committee, we ask our members to complete the Conflict of Interest Statement (below).
A potential conflict of interest can arise in situations when a member, or someone in a member's immediate family (such as her spouse, parent, sibling, or child), would personally gain, either financially or professionally, from an action taken by Many Hands, Inc. For example, if a Many Hands member would receive a job or a business contract if a certain organization receives a Many Hands grant, then that member has a potential conflict of interest. Serving on an advisory, governing, or fiduciary board, or in a professional capacity, for an organization that has applied for a Many Hands grant also creates a conflict of interest.
If a member has a conflict of interest with any organization, that member shall refrain from any direct communication with that organization regarding Many Hands and will direct the organization to the Chair(s) of the Grants Committee for any future communications. The member also will not serve on the Focus Area Committee to which that organization has been assigned. The member is, however, welcome and encouraged to serve on a different Focus Area Committee.
Finally, Many Hands requires that each member keep confidential all nonpublic information received from any organization that applies for a Many Hands grant, and not disseminate or use such nonpublic information for any reason other than evaluation of that organization’s grant application. Nonpublic information includes any information provided to Many Hands by an organization that is not generally available on that organization’s website or in materials (such as news releases, brochures, and fundraising materials) provided or shared by that organization. Additionally, Many Hands requires that each member keep confidential all personal or financial information about its members, including contact information and donation history.
Prior to participating in the first meeting of the Committee on which she has agreed to serve, each member shall complete and submit this form.
