Ages 5-13
This is an intermediate class that focuses heavily on reading and writing. This class is a great add-on to another intermediate class for students who are more serious about progressing in their Spanish abilities
Writing: Students use sentence stems and vocabulary learned in previous classes to assist with their writing. We follow a routine that students become familiar with. Students predict what the next picture will be in a category, then they talk about that picture for two minutes, taking turns. At the end, students write 1-2 sentences about that picture. This routine builds confidence with writing and uses descriptive vocabulary to discuss and write about different things in our world
Reading: We follow a familiar reading routine.
Day 1: Students listen to a story and we discuss, using as much Spanish as possible
Day 2: Students echo read the story (repeat)
Day 3: We choral read the story (read together)
Day 4: Students have the opportunity to read the story aloud independently (with support if needed)
Please note: I will meet your child where they are with their abilities and go from there. For example, if your child is not yet comfortable with writing on their own, we will start with tracing and copying. Eventually, the goal is to write independently using letter sounds in Spanish. The same goes for reading. Some students will need more support at first and that is okay. :)
