"Scanning the community" Rubbing Workshop - Dialogue with the community

簡介 Introduction ：

「對話」是是次展覽的主題。透過聲音、語言、文字、肢體動作、表情，人可以與人溝通，成為一句句的對白。18位藝術家在展覽中以空間連繫情感，以影像、圖像、觸感作為載體，把在某地的所見、所想化為了作品，成為了與觀者的一場「對話」。

拓印，是語言的轉述，是記憶的重構。如同展覽中的作品，以此自身在社會裏的觀察，記錄自身的行為或社會變遷的軌跡，與過去及現在對話，成為不會磨滅的痕跡。

受展覽作品的啟發，我們將帶領下讓參加者在展覽的附近社區，進行拓印活動。藉拓印直接而快速的過程，讓學生觀察身處的環境、與社區進行對話，發現並記錄香港容易被忽略的種種痕跡，可以是休憩公園內的榕樹樹紋、或是道路上的渠蓋花紋，反思自身與社區的關聯。其後，參加者可以交換作品，毋須言語的交流，以不一樣的感觀品嚐身邊最平凡的美。

“Dialogue” is the theme of this exhibition. Through sound, languages, words, body and facial expressions, people communicate with each other, creating a dialogue. Using moving images, pictures and senses as the medium, the 18 artists use space to connect emotions. They transformed what they saw and thought in a certain place into works: A dialogue with the viewer.

Rubbing is a paraphrase of language, a reconstruction of memory. In the exhibited artworks, artists observe the changes in the society and record their own behavior and connection with the community. Leaving an indelible trace through the dialogue with their past or present.

Inspired by these works, we will lead participants in an observing and rubbing activity in the neighborhood of the exhibition. Through this prompt and direct process, students will engage in a dialogue with the community. Discovering and recording the easily overlooked traces of Hong Kong. Reflect on their own connection to the community. Participants will then be able to share their work to others and taste the beauty of their surroundings in a different way, with unspoken words.
