Congratulations on helping to work towards standardizing the way sight singing is taught to your beginners in your school district...and having a great time while you do it!
The goal of this pilot program is to get S-Cubed into more school districts in order to standardize the way Sight Singing is taught across the district and to document the results during the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. Answer the questions at the bottom of this document completely and accurately. For this program to be successful, we need to find the best "fit". The most important ingredient to the success of S-Cubed is commitment to working on the program daily three to four times per week for 10-15 minutes per day, and if you are ready to do that, keep reading!
Here are the rules and procedures for entering and for participating in the S-Cubed Sight Singing School District Pilot Program. Please read and carefully consider every point listed here to help ensure success if your district is chosen to be a part of the pilot program for the upcoming school year.
1) Designate a "liaison" for your district who will complete this form and serve as the point of contact between Dale Duncan and your district should your district be chosen to receive Level ONE of the S-Cubed program for 2017-2018.2) Forms must be completed and submitted on or before midnight Friday, July 14, 2017. Districts that are chosen as part of the S-Cubed pilot program will be notified sometime during the week of July 17th. Incomplete and late forms will not be considered.3) There must be a minimum of two middle schools in your district.4) At least 51% of the middle schools in your district must commit to using S-Cubed 10-15 minutes per day 3/4 times weekly during the 2017-2018 school year. 5) At least 33% of the middle schools in your district must commit to attending an adjudicated choral event that includes a sight singing component during the 2017-2018 school year. Results of the adjudications will be submitted to Dale Duncan within one week of the adjudication at firstname.lastname@example.org) Teachers from your district must commit to documenting progress with the program. It must be documented during the school year by at least one of the participating middle schools in your district once per month and submitted to Dale Duncan at email@example.com. In order to reduce the burden, the documentation doesn't have to come from the same middle school each time. The documentation can include the following: The preferred documentation method is video of your students (faces aren't required to be shown, but if you have permission, you can certainly do so). Voice memos recorded on Smartphones will also be accepted. The deadline each month is on or before the final teaching day of each month. 7) Middle School choral music teachers from your district must have classes with their students during the school day for a minimum of 200 minutes each week of the school year for the entire school year. Programs that meet before or after school as an extra-curricular program cannot be considered at this time. 8) Participating districts are strongly encouraged to share audio and video progress on social media throughout the school year. You can use Facebook (groups included), Twitter, YouTube, or Instagram to share. Use the following two hashtags if you share: #scubed #sightsinging. If you share throughout the year on social media, make sure you notify Dale Duncan at firstname.lastname@example.org. To thank you for doing so, you will receive S-Cubed Level TWO sometime in the late spring of 2018!9) High schools and elementary schools are welcome to receive and use S-Cubed if your district is chosen, but they do not have to meet any of the requirements listed in #4, #5, #6 or #7. 10) Once notified that your district has been chosen to be a part of the S-Cubed Sight Singing School District Pilot Program, Dale Duncan will notify the liaison. The liaison will then work with Dale Duncan to coordinate downloading of Level ONE of S-Cubed directly from TPT. Downloading must occur within one week of being notified that your district is chosen. Each teacher from your district has to download the program him/herself.
