The Palestine Solidarity Twinning Project is a collaboration between the Landworkers' Alliance (LWA) and the Union of Agricultural Workers' Committees (UAWC), and aims to build grassroots solidarity with farmers and landworkers in Palestine by establishing meaningful direct relationships with LWA members here in the UK.
For the remainder of 2024, the project will be embarking on a pilot phase, in which a handful of LWA members will be paired with UAWC-affiliated projects in Palestine to share stories, experiences, skills and knowledge, and where possible to raise awareness and support for farmers and peasant communities in Palestine who are facing ongoing land-grabs, aggression and genocide.
As the project progresses into 2025, we want to encourage more LWA members to take part, and be 'twinned' with land-based projects and farms in Gaza and the West Bank. Please complete this form if you would like to express in interest in participating in the project.*
What might being a 'twinned' project / farm involve?
- Taking part in live video link-ups and Zoom calls with twinned project in Palestine
- Organising fundraising activities to support on-the-ground needs in Palestine
- Virtual knowledge exchange (e.g. on production systems, seed saving techniques)
- Sharing knowledge with your local community about farmers’ experiences in Palestine
*We are specifically looking for farms, groups or organisations who are committed to building grassroots solidarity with farmers in Palestine through awareness raising and advocacy, and have sufficient capacity to engage with the project in a meaningful way.
** Please note that not all expressions if interest will be immediately invited to take part in the project. Projects will be selected on a rolling basis, depending on their relevance and similarity to participating projects in Palestine, and in the context of changing on-the-ground needs in Gaza and West Bank.
