2017 Summer Support Crew Application
Support Crew folks should have extensive experience volunteering at Bay Area Girls Rock Camp (at least 2 programs worth), and be ready to pass on their knowledge and provide support to their fellow volunteers.

The Support Crew Roles:

The INSTRUMENT SUPPORT CREW will meet with the instrument instructors before their session to discuss curriculum design, classroom management, goals and expectations, and gear setup. During the week of camp, Instrument Support Crew members will assist in instrument classes, help with setup, and give & receive feedback about each class. There will be 1 Instrument Support person for each of the 5 instruments offered. Time commitment: 1-2 hour instructor training before camp, Mandatory volunteer training before camp (plus leading the gear oriendation for your instrument), *9am-12:30pm M-F of camp. Stipend: $200/session of camp

The PEER MENTOR SUPPORT CREW will assist in training our Peer Mentors (formerly known as Interns), and supervise them during band practice and workshops. They will also facilitate the daily creation of skits to be performed by our Peer Mentors at morning assembly. There will be one Peer Mentor Support person for Session 1, and one during Session 3 (Session 2 is Teen Week, so there will be no working Peer Mentors at that time). Time commitment: 1:00-4:30pm, M-F of camp, plus training. Stipend: $200/week of camp

The BAND COACH/MANAGER SUPPORT CREW will train band coaches & managers at the volunteer training, and provide support during band practice. There will be 2 Band Coach/Manager Support people for each session of camp. Time commitment: *1:30-5, M-F of camp, plus training (you will lead the role-play exercises during training). Stipend: $200/week of camp

The GEAR SUPPORT CREW will supervise the set up of each instrument classroom and band practice room, delegating tasks to the roadie crew throughout the day. They will maintain the gear room, ensuring that all instruments are handled with care and kept organized, and making minor repairs as needed (and as is within their capacity). Familiarity with all of the instruments offered at camp is required. There will be 1 Gear Manager for each session of camp. Time commitment: *9am-5pm, M-F of camp, plus training, plus 12-5pm at the Saturday showcase. Stipend: $500. Additional stipend available for pre-camp setup.
