SA Committee Member Application 2017-2018
Thank you for taking the time to fill out the SA Committee Member Application for 2017-2018!

The Committee Member position is open to all sophomores, juniors, and seniors at Rice. This position is meant to do 2 things:

1. Allow students to use the SA as a platform to pursue projects they're passionate about & that improve the Rice experience
2. Provide an avenue for students to get involved in the SA, especially if they have no prior experience with SA involvement

If you've ever wanted to get involved with the SA or wanted to work on a project you're passionate about while benefiting from the resources of the SA, this is your chance! As a Committee Member, you'll have the opportunity to utilize the SA's resources to pursue your passions and make meaningful improvements to Rice.

Committees will meet roughly once a week at the discretion of the Committee Chairs and will work on projects in line with committee mission and vision statements. Currently, there are 6 different committees and student initiatives that students can serve on as committee members. They are the Academics Committee, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Environmental Committee, Student Life Committee, Wellbeing Committee, and the Best Practices Student Initiative. You can read more about the committees/contact the chairs for more information here:

The application is due Tuesday, August 29 at 11:59pm. Committee Chairs may be reaching out to arrange interviews shortly after the applications close. If you have any questions, please reach out to the SA Internal Vice President, Sara Meadow (

IMPORTANT: All selected Committee Members must be available to attend the SA Welcome Dinner on Sept. 10 and the SA Fall Retreat on Sept. 16 for orientation purposes. Please email with any questions.
