2025 RISTA Standing Committees 

We invite you to make an impact by serving on a standing committee! Committees vary in size and time commitment but offer a meaningful way to shape RISTA’s work while building leadership experience. Our organization will grow with more volunteers to plan and organize quality opportunities for membership. This gives you an opportunity to meet other science educators and shape the future of RISTA!

  • Communications & Membership Committee (3 members)
    This committee partners with the Secretary to strengthen membership engagement by developing communication strategies, creating promotional materials, and representing RISTA at events to enhance visibility.

  • Finance Committee (2 members)
    This committee assists the Treasurer in maintaining RISTA’s financial health by reviewing the budget, exploring cost-saving measures, and advising on membership pricing and sustainability.

  • Professional Development Committee (5 members)
    This committee works with the President-Elect to design and deliver professional learning opportunities for members by identifying needs, organizing events, coordinating presenters, and managing logistics.

  • Conference Committee (5 members)
    This committee collaborates with the President to plan and run the annual conference, overseeing venue arrangements, program development, presenter selection, vendor coordination, and event promotion.

  • Elections Committee (2 members)
    This committee manages the board election process by soliciting nominations, overseeing voting, and ensuring a fair and transparent election free from conflicts of interest.

Members can serve on more than one committee, if schedule permits.  Commitment is for 1 year at a time, and each committee chair sets the meeting schedule.  Most committees meet monthly.  The conference committee will meet more often leading to the conference.  The election committee will meet as needed to plan and facilitate the annual election.
