Mentee Applications: Alphabettes Mentorship Program
The mentorship program is one of the Alphabettes’ outreach activities. We aim to help people, especially students and professional newcomers, to immerse themselves in the industry. If you are looking for guidance by professionals in the fields of type, typography, or the lettering arts we would like to hear you.

Please make sure you are committed to making the best use of this opportunity. Our mentors are volunteering their valuable time to guide others.

* Filling in the form
The form is the first step for both mentees and mentors to communicate their agendas to us in the most effective way. The information allows us to do our job in the background and come up with the best match possible for each specific case. Once you fill in the form, we will write back with further guidance on how to proceed. Please be patient, it takes time to process your application and provide you with a reply that suits your needs.

* What will you do with my information?
We will keep the information you provide confidential but may share parts of it with potential mentors to find the right match for you. You can find our privacy policy here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Yzyz1xOISBN8X2wpx4eSae1YUmgWvHWguXKuHR2HsHU/edit?usp=sharing.

* How often will we meet?
You and your mentor will work out together how frequently, and when you will connect. The work plan you will built together will accommodate the duration of the mentorship.

* Where do we meet?
That is up to you and your mentor as well. Meetings can happen online or in person. Our volunteers are spread across the globe. Some of us are in type-congested areas such as London, Berlin, New York City or the Bay Area where face-to-face meetings can be arranged more easily.

* Who is eligible to apply as a mentee?
Although the program is open to everyone in our field, depending on demand, we may give preference to underrepresented groups.

* What does it cost?
The participation in the mentorship programme is free. The Alphabettes organisation is not liable on any outcome.

* What’s the difference between a mentor and a consultant?
The idea of the mentorship is to provide guidance by experienced type and lettering professionals. It is not to be confused with free of charge consultancy. If you require more extensive business consulting or expert knowledge, you are welcome to get in touch with individual professionals: http://www.alphabettes.org/about/all-alphabettes/ or http://yesequal.us/
