This application is to be completed by families of Leander ISD students, in elementary and middle school grades, who are interested in pursuing remote learning for the 2023-24 school year. Students eligible to apply are:
Students who are interested in entering into a virtual program must (as required by TEA):
- Submit an application for the 2023-24 school year
- Reside in Leander ISD
Students enrolled in a virtual program 2022-23 and wish to continue must (as required by TEA):
- Submit an application for the 2023-24 school year
- Reside in Leander ISD
- Maintain an attendance rate of 90% or higher
- Take and pass their STAAR test as applicable per grade
- Pass all core content area courses (Math, ELA, History, Science)
Admission into the Leander Virtual Learning Academy is not first-come-first served. The application window opens 2/6/2023 and we will take applications throughout the year. Enrollment is limited by grade level. The application and admission process will be as follows:
1) All students/families must submit electronic application, including those who participated in the 2022-2023 Virtual Learning Academy. Applications received will be accepted, reviewed for program eligibility based on state and local guidelines. Past participation in virtual learning does not have automatic/guaranteed admittance.
3) If a grade level exceeds capacity on or prior to 5/26/2023, eligible students will be selected through the blind lottery process into the program. A waiting list will be created for each grade level that has reached capacity after this date. After 5/26/2023, once a grade level reaches capacity eligible students will be placed on a waiting list.
4) Students who apply but do not qualify for virtual learning based on state and local guidelines, will be placed on a waitlist. These applications will be considered for entry the week of 7/10/2023. Using a a blind lottery system, a limited amount of ineligible students may be accepted. This number is based on enrollment. Families who are affected by ineligibility will be notified right away of their placement into the lottery and informed of the results no later than 7/14/2023
