NSF S-STEM Green Building Scholars Program - 2019-20 Juniors/Seniors
This one-year, $4,500 scholarship is for juniors and seniors(students taking 300-level coursework or above) currently pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science at Portland State University who are interested in taking coursework and exploring careers related to green buildings. As buildings consume 41 percent of the energy and are responsible for 40 percent of all carbon dioxide emissions in the USA, it is important to understand how buildings use resources and how people - architects, engineers, contractors, owners and users - must work together to reduce this environmental impact. As a Green Building Scholar, you will take coursework in building science, have access to tours of local architecture and engineering firms, and a faculty mentor to help you make decisions about potential courses and careers.

To receive this scholarship students must (1) be a US citizen, permanent resident, national or refugee, (2) be a full-time student (3) have a 3.0 GPA or higher, (4) complete the FAFSA and demonstrate financial need, (5) must be in the 3rd or 4th year of pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science, (6) take approved green building courses (or research credits) as upper-division major electives during the academic year.
