Takoma Area Tennis Players

Submit your information and gain access to a selection of local tennis players looking to play/practice. There's a good variety of skills, ages, fitness and availability.... so there should be at least a few players who match up well with you. Please also share with local friends who might be interested in finding partners. The main gist is connecting VERY locally with others who want to play regularly or periodically, for as little commitment as 45m - 60m at a time.

Below I will collect some basic required and some optional information to facilitate connections. I can help define/refine/adjust the rating category for you personally, but for the most part it is benchmarked off of USTA's NTRP 1.5-7.0 (national tennis rating program). Detailed description here can help you self-rate: https://www.usta.com/Adult-Tennis/USTA-League/ntrp/ I'm anticipating most folks are 2.5-5.0 (with some higher and lower, too).

Periodically, I'll share a google spreadsheet link with newly signed up folks so you can look up potential partners and contact them.

Generally, send an email/text (or call) a handful of people all at once with your interest in playing and your upcoming availability. Folks may "reply" directly with a meet up confirmation, or if you keep it to a small and somewhat cohesive group you can "reply all" to a request with alternative playing times so additional court dates can be made that meet your schedule. Getting together in groups of 3-4 can be good, too, for more social and practice purposes.

This signup was created by Coach SJ/Moving Forward Tennis to help connect local players for hitting and practice partners, and you may also find some for more competitive play. Currently in pilot phase, this program is FREE. There may be a fee associated with this in the future should I find it takes more time, resources or management to run smoothly. However, there's also robust (not quite as locally-focused) paid programs as part of www.TennisDC.com (good flex/individual league play and more) and www.USTA.com (good team/league play and more) that can provide more formal structure for competitive play.

Enjoy and give me feedback, as this is new and evolving. Keep on Moving Forward!
