All the internships are remote positions with a six-month commitment with (generally) 10 hours per week. Many of our interns end up joining our team but we also offer recommendation letters and help with career placement for those who complete the program. Internships are unpaid.
Below are the types of internships available. Start date will be October 16, 2017. Apply for any that interest you! SOCIAL MEDIAIntern(s) will work on all of our social media platforms which include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Intern(s) will be looking for travel families to post their pictures and stories, as well as posting from the Almost Fearless website daily (on every platform). Must love socializing and interacting with amazing traveling families and/or families that have a dream to travel. Must have a passion for creating inspiring social media content and have an interest in a future career in social media or virtual assistant work. Other qualities we are looking for include being an independent worker and able to attend weekly team meetings. Preference given if intern(s) has taken a Pinterest course in the past. TECHNOLOGYIntern(s) will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of back-end tech for our start-up and will work hands-on with a rapidly growing company. Intern(s) will directly assist our CTO in everything from user support and automation software to web development and remote collaboration software. Must love being finding just the right technical solution to make a company run smoothly and have a very robust level of people skills as well as a future interest in startups and/or online technologies.
PHOTOGRAPHYIntern(s) will work on all aspects of the magazine media process including duration of photography for the website and print magazine, discovering feature-worthy photos for social media, editing, and resizing images. Must love photography and have an eye for photojournalism content. Tools that will be used: Slack, Trello, Google Drive/Dropbox, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, among others.
MAGAZINE/EDITORIAL Intern(s) will work closely with the magazine’s January issue and learn what it takes to produce quality print media. Intern(s) will work on all aspects of the magazine, including reaching out to writers and contributors, soliciting submissions, organizing workflow of writers/editors, development editing, copy editing, writing Front of Book articles as/if needed, among other tasks. Must have a passion for the written word, travel, media, and an eye for unique and inspiring content! Independent initiative, organizational skills, managing multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
WEB/EDITORIALIntern(s) will work with the Managing Editor on all aspects of the editorial process including but not limited to evaluating pitches, shaping story angles, developmental and copy editing, line editing, and formatting for the web. Intern(s) may also participate in writing and research as needed. Must love the written word, possess independent initiative, have a passion for creating inspiring content, and have an interest in a future career in media, journalism, publishing, editing or writing. SALES AND MARKETING Intern(s) will help manage outreach to travel, tourism, adventure, outdoor and parenting brands to place ads in our print and digital magazine, as well as help manage our existing portfolio of online advertising clients. Intern(s) will have the opportunity to follow the process of ad buys from client contact to technical placement; you will be working with the appropriate internal teams to ensure our advertisers are happy. Intern(s) will also be integral in researching potential clients and deciding what companies would be a good fit for our brand. Must love people, have a professional and personable email style and thrive in a self-designed and independent work environment.
BOOK EDITINGIntern(s) will work directly with the book editor on all aspects of publishing, including research, fact-checking, copy editing, and writing. Must be self motivated, have excellent organizational skills and time management, and be capable of handling numerous responsibilities. Intern(s) also need to have an eye for detail, enjoy the written word, travel and be comfortable in a fast-pace setting. Preference given to those with strong writing skills.
