Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Tutoring Network
Thank you for your interest in volunteering as a tutor! The students in the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro area can benefit from your knowledge, expertise, and support.
Through financial support from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, this program will offer free academic support to students in our area through group tutoring sessions. The majority of tutoring will take place remotely, via an online video conferencing platform, but tutors who are willing to meet in person may be able to assist at the Student Support Centers offered by the C4 Coalition (for more information, visit
Before tutors can be assigned to work with students in group tutoring sessions, whether online or in-person, they will need to complete a volunteer application through the Staunton-Augusta YMCA. This will be a secure application that will include personal references, background check, and a consent form. After you submit this form, you'll receive the application via email.
After the reference checks and background check have been completed, there will be a brief online training program about the prevention and identification of sexual abuse. Only after completing that training can we schedule tutoring sessions for a volunteer tutor.
Ideally, a tutor could offer the same subject at the same time each week, but we hope to be able to utilize tutors whose availability is more variable as well. If you have questions, you can email
(Note: We will not share your personal contact information with students or their families; it will be maintained solely by this tutoring program.)
