These are not simply theological questions—they are questions many of us have asked in moments of loss, disappointment, illness, or uncertainty. For thousands of years, people of faith have turned to the Book of Job to wrestle honestly with these questions and to seek God in the midst of them.
Job is a good and faithful man who suddenly loses nearly everything he holds dear. As he struggles to understand what has happened, his friends are convinced there must be an explanation: Job must have done something to deserve his suffering. But Job refuses their easy answers. He questions, argues, laments, and ultimately brings his pain directly to God. And when God finally answers from the whirlwind, the response is both surprising and deeply challenging.
Over six sessions, biblical scholar Kathleen O’Connor will guide us through this powerful book and help us explore innocent suffering, the silence of God, and our very human desire to understand why difficult things happen. Along the way, Job invites us to discover a faith that has room for our questions, our grief, and even our frustration with God.
Each session includes commentary, Scripture study, reflection questions, prayer, and access to online lectures. You do not need to be a Scripture scholar—just bring your Bible, your questions, and a willingness to explore.
