November 9, 2020 Entry Point
*Due by October 28, 2020

On Monday, November 9, 2020 we will begin the next stage of re-entry to in-person learning at Icahn Charter Schools. Staggered entry beginning at 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM dismissal will remain in effect for all students. Each student is eligible for a minimum of TWO days of in-person learning (Monday/Tuesday OR Thursday/Friday) with a maximum of 10 students in a classroom at any given time.

Our goal is to bring students into the building as often as possible. This marking period, additional in-person learning days will be determined based on the number of parents who choose for their child to remain in remote learning, as well as the number of teachers available for live instruction. So far the transmission rate in the Bronx remains low, and we are happy to report that there have been no reported cases of illness that have caused us to close our schools or delay our plan.

We have been informed that yellow school bus services will be running by November 9th. Please note that we cannot guarantee this service as the NYC DOE can stop busing at any time. Additionally, it is more than likely that bus service will not run on days with inclement weather. If any of the above are to occur, it would be your responsibility to get your child to school and pick them up at dismissal each day. Health and safety protocols set forth by the state will be followed on the bus, however we cannot ensure that bus protocols will look exactly as they do within the Icahn Charter School buildings as we do not have control over their protocols for cleaning and sanitizing student spaces.

As a reminder:
All schools are cleaned and sanitized throughout the day and deep cleaned each evening. Students and staff members wear masks at all times while in the building, and all desks have shields around them. All who enter the building must continue to complete the COVID-19 Questionnaire by 7:30 AM each morning, and temperatures will be taken upon arrival to the school prior to entering the building.

By electing FULL-TIME Remote Instruction for your child, it means they would learn 100% remotely (all online, from home). Remote learning will include live interaction with teachers.

By electing HYBRID Instruction for your child, it means they will come to school for IN-PERSON Instruction for a minimum of two days per week and will participate in REMOTE Instruction on the other days.

If you choose full time remote learning for your child, you will have the option to change back to hybrid/in-person learning at specific times during the school year. These dates will coincide with the first day of each new marking period.

*You may choose the option of Remote Instruction at any point, however you must commit to it until the next entry point.

**A separate form must be submitted for each child.
