Consent to Participate in Research

Dear CLMOOC 17 participant,

You are invited to participate in a research study about learner behaviours in networked learning spaces. There is no compensation for participating in this study. However, your participation will be a valuable addition to our research and findings could lead to greater public understanding.

The purpose of this research study, which is being conducted by Sarah HONEYCHURCH et al., is to explore legitimate peripheral participants (LPPs), that is to say less active participants in networked learning spaces. For the purposes of the research, we employed a mixed research design methodology, in which social network analysis and online interview forms will be used to collect data.

You were selected as a possible participant in this study because you were identified as one of the participants (through social network analysis) in the Connected Learning cMOOC (#CLMooc 17).

If you agree to participate:
-You will complete an online interview form
-It will take approximately 10-20 minutes of your time.

Your participation in this study is voluntary. There are no known risks or some possible risks or discomfort which could cause you to feel uncomfortable. There will be no costs for participating, nor will you benefit from participating. Your name and email address will be kept during the data collection phase for tracking purposes only. Only researchers will have access to the data during data collection. Identifying information will be stripped from the final dataset. All information will be destroyed after 5-year time.

You are welcome to ask the researchers any questions that occur to you during the online interview. If you have further questions once the interview is completed, you are encouraged to contact the researchers using the contact information given below.

If you have any questions about the study, contact the researcher
