Thank you for your interest in serving as a volunteer at the Brady Faith Center. Your service is valued and appreciated. We are committed that the Love of God will spread through service to our community. The commitment to serve others follows the pattern set by Jesus who laid his garments and washed the feet of his disciples. As you commence your service, we appreciate you taking the time to complete this Volunteer Application Packet and may you find this volunteer service richly rewarding. Volunteer Code of Conduct 

As a volunteer, I promise to strictly follow the rules and guidelines in this Volunteer’s Code of Conduct as a condition of my providing services to the children, youth, and vulnerable adults. 

As a volunteer working with children, youth and vulnerable adults, I will: 

Safeguard, at all times, the well-being of those entrusted to my care. 

Be a model at all times, representing and practicing the teachings of the Catholic faith in conduct, speech and dress. 

Establish and maintain safe environments by preserving appropriate physical and emotional boundaries. 

Participate in appropriate training as required by my supervisor, program coordinator and diocese. 

Treat each person with respect, loyalty, patience, integrity, courtesy, dignity, charity, and consideration. 

Avoid situations where I am alone with children, youth, and vulnerable adults at Church activities and as a representative of the Brady Faith Center. 

Use positive reinforcement rather than criticism, competition or comparison. 

Neither accept expensive gifts from children, youth, and vulnerable adults nor give expensive gifts to them without the prior written approval from the parents or guardians, pastor administrator, supervisor or program director. 

Immediately contact my supervisor and assist and cooperate in contacting the police if I believe a child, youth, or vulnerable adult is in imminent danger. 

Immediately contact the Diocesan Assistance Coordinator who will, in turn, coordinate the appropriate response, if sexual abuse is suspected. 

Cooperate fully in any investigation of abuse.

Exercise common sense and due consideration in all my actions when involved in Brady Faith Center activities with children, youth and vulnerable adults. 

I understand that as a volunteer working with children, youth and vulnerable adults, as well as any other area of the Brady Faith Center I am subject to a criminal background check. I understand that actions inconsistent with this Code of Conduct or failure to take action mandated by this Code of Conduct may result in an investigation, possible suspension from my duties, and possible permanent dismissal from active ministry in accordance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People (USCCB) and the Syracuse Diocese Child & Youth Protection Policy. I understand that this code is to be applied fairly and equitably on a case by case basis.

Code of Confidentiality


We at the Brady Faith Center respect the confidentiality of individuals who come to us. 

Towards this end, we request that if you inadvertently hear or learn facts about a person 

that you agree to keep such information confidential.

DIOCESAN SAFE ENVIRONMENT POLICY


 All of the institutions of the Diocese are committed to providing a safe environment for children. All employees must complete Safe Environment training within 60 days of hiring. 


To achieve a safe environment all employees and volunteers in Catholic Schools have the following specific obligations:

 1. To conduct themselves at all times as a representative of the Diocese of Syracuse and the Roman Catholic Church; 

2. To participate in all training required by the Safe Environment Program and authorize a criminal background check;

 3. To comply with all of the stipulations of the Safe Environment Program; 

4. To maintain physical and emotional boundaries from children and young people with whom he or she is in contact;

 5. To avoid situations, events or meetings with children and adolescents in venues that are not accessible to the public during any such meeting or event;

 6. To promptly report any suspected abuse of a minor to his or her appropriate supervisor; Effective September 1, 2023 3

 7. To cooperate fully in any investigations regarding any suspected abuse. This list of obligations does not abrogate or replace any other obligations under an applicable law, guideline, policy or regulation. A more detailed explanation of the Safe Environment Policy is available in the brochure setting forth the policy. All employees will receive a copy of this booklet at the time of their training.


Failure to comply with the Safe Environment training requirement  will result in inability to continue to Volunteer at the Brady Faith Center. Our programming primarily focuses on Youth and protecting their environment.
