All appropriate federal, state, county and city regulations will be observed by participants in the Market. It is the vendor’s responsibility to obtain all licenses, permits, and pay any fees that are required by local, state, and federal governments. This includes the vendor’s license for products upon which a sales tax is collected, and any licensing for processed foods.
Farms are to sell primarily what they produce. The exception is to occasionally sell “the neighbors” produce.
The Market will open in May and continue through the end of September. The Market will be open on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM (noon).
Sellers will set their own selling price. Prices must be displayed clearly at each vendor’s location. (It is strongly recommended for pricing to reflect current market value. One way to do this is to survey local stores for their regular [not sale] price, and meet their price or add a percentage. Superior, local, chemical-free products are worth a premium.)
Produce sold by weight, must be weighed on certified scales. If you do not have certified scales, sell by the piece or by the container (each, dozen, pint, quart, etc.).
Sellers take the responsibility to file their own appropriate tax forms.
Produce must not come in direct contact with the ground. Produce with hard rinds may be the exception.
Each seller and buyer must conduct themselves and their equipment or vehicles in a safe manner.
Vendors are prohibited from selling elsewhere under the name of the Market on Main unless permission has been granted by the Market Manager.
Each person utilizing a space is expected to maintain it in an attractive manner and to remove all waste at the close of the Market. Failure to do so may result in a minimum of $5.00 service fee.
Vendors must provide their own booth – tent, display tables, cart, etc.
The Market Manager retains the right to ask a vendor not to return if they are in violation of the rules. The vendor may take this dispute to the Executive Committee of the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, which oversees this event, for resolution. Other grievances or problems are to be directed to the Executive Committee for resolution.
No pets or animals are permitted.
The Committee shall not be liable for any accidents at the Market location, nor for any claims from consumers in regards to items purchased at the Market. Vendors are encouraged to obtain necessary insurance to cover such incidents.
If vendors are unable to attend a Market, please contact the Market Manager as soon as possible. This allows the Market Manager to space vendors and activities accordingly for the day.
