The Community Steering Committee is a community group that will guide the process of developing a Community Emissions Reduction Plan to address air quality and environmental justice issues in Bayview Hunters Point.
The Air District and Co-Leads, Marie Harrison Community Foundation and Bayview Hunters Point Community Advocates are responsible for convening a Community Steering Committee using an open and transparent process and co-developing the Plan with the Community Steering Committee. The final Community Steering Committee membership should reflect the diverse makeup of Bayview Hunters Point, be majority residents, and should bring together an inclusive group with a range of knowledge, lived experience and expertise. Becoming a Community Steering Committee member will require orientation, participation, and attendance at a regular monthly Steering Committee meeting and potentially a monthly sub-committee meeting. Community Steering Committee members that are community residents and local organizations will receive stipends for participating in monthly weekday evening meetings and other activities for 1 to 2 years. Childcare and food will be provided for in-person meetings.
