Zombie Apocalypse Medicine Meeting Abstract Submission
Join us in Eureka Springs for an exciting conference about the science, medicine, art and culture of managing apocalyptic risks, in collaboration with the Nightmare in the Ozarks Film Festival. This year's meeting focuses on the ways humans manage apocalyptic risks, especially through cooperation, storytelling, entertainment and play. Special sessions and events will be focused on how humans manage risk through moving/traveling, building social relationships, and sharing information. We'll also feature talks about improvisation, gaming, counter-culture, and the role of festivals, gatherings and collective experiences of the arts in helping us deal with an increasingly apocalyptic present and uncertain future. Stay for the Nightmare in the Ozarks Film Festival (Oct 24-26), and the Eureka Springs Zombie Crawl (Oct 26) featuring cross-over events with ZAMM2024 and plenty of opportunities for apocalyptic fun including a special performance from The Apocalypse Roadshow.

Abstract submission is open to any and all submissions that use zombies and/or the apocalypse as a tool for communicating about complex topics related to our shared future. Special sessions and events will be focused on how humans manage risk through moving/traveling, building social relationships, sharing information, improvising, gaming and collective experiences in helping us deal with an increasingly apocalyptic present and uncertain future. Abstracts on all topics related to zombies and the apocalypse are welcome, including parasitology, human/technology interactions, emergency medicine, public policy, psychology of influence, evolutionary biology of conflict and many other topics. We encourage playfulness, zombie references and radical interdisciplinarity in all submissions.

About ZAMM
The Zombie Apocalypse Medicine Meeting (ZAMM) is a radically interdisciplinary meeting that bridges science and the arts to grapple with the most pressing challenges of the present and the future. We define a zombie as an entity that is fully or partially under the control of another entity. This includes host-parasite interactions, autonomous technology, and coercion/control in human interactions. These dynamics - where one entity controls another - can lead to unanticipated biological, technological and social consequences. We use the zombie apocalypse as a lens through which we can engage about potentially frightening aspects of our present and future without fear and anxiety, but instead with imagination and creativity. The goal of ZAMM is to reduce the global burden of zombification and contribute to apocalypse prevention and preparedness through interdisciplinary engagement.
