The Mesquite ISD Education Foundation is looking for service minded community leaders with a passion for supporting teachers and students of the Mesquite Independent School District. For 20 years the Education Foundation has fulfilled it's mission to create and sustain a visionary coalition of businesses and citizens generating investments and funding for innovative programs and initiatives that enrich educational opportunities in Mesquite ISD. Annually, our Nominating Committee and Board Development Committee collaborate to identify prospects and open dialouge with potential candidates to serve as Directors on our Board. Directors serve a 3-year term (currently no term limit) and are recruited based on interest and expertise to one of the following standing committees: Administration, Programs, Development, Community Relations, Finance. Directors are expected to raise funds for the organization or to contribute personally (No minimum amount required). Board meetings are held at 6:00PM on the 3rd Thursday of each month (No meeting in December or July) at the MISD K. David Belt Professional Development Center.

Administration Committee - Oversee the administration of the Foundation and to coordinate and/or develop policies and procedures, goals, a Five- Year Plan, and banking and investment strategies to ensure the perpetuity of the Foundation.

Programs Committee - Develop, solicit and accept proposals for projects/programs that will augment and enrich education. It is also the committee’s purpose to validate the need of proposals/applications, determine the dollars needed, prioritize the needs and recommend action to the Board of Directors.

Development Committee - Develop means for soliciting donations to support the Foundation’s current programs, endowment, and investment plans according the long-term and short-term goals established by the Board of Directors.

Community Relations Committee - Interest and/or expertise in the development and implementation of public relations and marketing ideas or strategies for the Foundation. The purpose of the Community Relations Committee is to promote the Foundation and to develop a plan for increasing interest in and awareness of the Foundation’s programs and activities.

Finance Committee - Responsible for investing the funds of the Corporation in a fiscally prudent manner and in compliance with the Foundation’s Investment Policy to ensure the perpetuity of the Corporation. The Committee will be responsible for ensuring that IRS Reports are filed in a timely manner and recommending an auditor each year.
