What to expect:
This site is a long ways from Mount Vernon, so get ready to explore the wild areas that buffer the Suiattle River outside of Darrington. Being an "underplanting," we will spend our time together searching out optimal planting spots in gaps in the forest, and planting trees in them! This may be slower than other plantings in fields or other open areas that you may have done in the past, since we will be climbing over logs and making our way up and down steep slopes as we encounter them. We will be working rain or shine, and it may be cold so please bring lots of layers including rain gear. Planting involves, digging, stooping, bending, and carrying between 10 and 25lbs of gear at a time.
Ages: 16+ (minor releases of liability required if under 18)
The Trust will provide tools, extra gloves, snacks, water, and hot drinks. If you would prefer to bring your own tools, we will be using shovels and planting bags.
Please be prepared for cold and wet weather.
Supplies to bring:
Long sleeved shirt and pants, warm layers, rain gear, sturdy footwear, water for the day, snacks and lunch, and a backpack/bag to keep your personal belongings in during the work day.
Please fill out the Google Form below to RSVP. Most events are limited to 20 people. Once the event is full, you will be added to a waitlist.
REMINDER: If you are signing up with a group, each person must fill out the form individually.
IMPORTANT: If there is someone younger than 18 in your group, please email Gabby Jacunski at americorps.engagement@skagitlandtrust.org for more information after you complete the Google Form.
