SPECTRA is The Hue’s Online Showcase & Skillsharing event. We’re putting the power in the hands of Edmonton’s QTBIPOC+ (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous people of so-called Canada, and People of Colour) Community to create and share the art, media, and skills that we want to build and see!
In support of the Black Lives Matter movement, we will be centering Queer & Trans Black and Indigenous voices, experiences, and stories. We are committing to the Black Lives Matter movement by creating spaces for Joy, Intergenerational Continuity, and Action as avenues of resistance against racism, abuse of power, and the intertwined ongoing systemic violence against Black and Indigenous bodies in Edmonton.
SPECTRA is a source of light, a space for exploration, and an opportunity for empowerment during a time where our worlds are fundamentally shifting through revolutionary uncertainties. SPECTRA will shine vibrantly online in the coming months, with our first edition occuring this August.
The three Primary Spectrums of SPECTRA are the Showcase Spectrum, the Skillsharing Spectrum, and the Action Spectrum.
The Showcase Spectrum is a digital showcase of art and online performance. Whether you are a zine maker, poet, crafter, painter, musician, playwright, dancer, performer - we wanna showcase you and your joy!
The Skillsharing Spectrum is a series of workshops for community members to share their strengths, learn new skills, and build networks of support. As a young organization, we want to provide opportunities to strengthen Community capacity through skill sharing and skillbuilding. All skill-types are welcome! Whether it is a make-up tutorial, a grant writing workshop, poetry workshop, a photoshop crash course, or anything in between or beyond, we’re happy to have you!
Note: All featured artists, performers and workshoppers will receive an honorarium of $100.
