Student Organization Help with Purple Flag Project
The Northeast Missouri Alumni Chapter works to place purple flags along Baltimore Street to welcome people to Kirksville and Truman for events like Homecoming, Family Day, Truman Experience Weekends, and Commencement. We partner with the Rotary Club of Kirksville and their Fly the Flag program to place our purple flags at businesses along the main drive through Kirksville.

We place and then remove flags six times per year and would appreciate your help with any for which you are available. Here's what we have slated for Fall 2026:
  • Family Day (Sep. 19): flag placement Sep. 16, flag removal Sep. 20
  • Homecoming (Oct. 24): flag placement Oct. 21, flag removal Oct. 25
  • Fall Truman Experience Weekend (Nov. 7): flag placement Nov. 4, flag removal Nov. 8
We will reach out to you a few weeks before each placement to see if you can help. While not an overly difficult task, it does take time and effort to place all the flags and then take them down again for storage. We are hoping always to grow our team of volunteers to better connect students, alums, and friends of Truman. It helps to have many hands can make quick work of the task.
