The Dr. Brian D. McCartney Scholarship
Dr. Brian D. McCartney (July 19, 1950 - April 26, 1998) was the first Deaf Superintendent of the Michigan School for the Deaf from 1991 to 1997. He also served as Interim Superintendent for the Michigan School for the Blind from 1992 to 1997.

This scholarship is available to both working and aspiring interpreters.

This scholarship is for those who are studying to become an interpreter or are a working interpreter who is going back to school. The award amount is $500 plus a one-year MIRID membership.

Please allow a minimum of 30 days for the MIRID Executive Board to process your request.

One scholarship is available per year, however, under the discretion of the MIRID Executive Board, more than one scholarship may be awarded based on monies available in this scholarship fund.
