Project - The Climate, Land, and Environmental Justice Storytelling Project is working to celebrate, uplift, and connect leaders working for just transition, land defense, and environmental justice through an audiovisual space, including a podcast, so they can share their stories, learn from each other, and  find support. We invite you to sign up to participate in a podcast interview by filling out this form. If you do not feel comfortable filling out this form and being on a database, please email us, and we can meet virtually with you to discuss participating. You can also make written and anonymous submissions via this form.

This audiovisual space, including podcasts, promotion, and resources, strives to educate and build transformational power by engaging listeners with first-person stories. The platform serves the important purpose of educating the audience on the needs and priorities of cross-scale climate, land, and environmental justice efforts. Moreover, the platform will share with the audience strategies for organizing their community for change while inspiring them with accounts of how this work can bring joy to leaders and their communities.  

Community Knowledge - Being a leader working for a just transition, land defense, and environmental justice is not easy on many levels. While communities are suffering from environmental pollution and climate impacts, instead of resting, they organize their communities to advocate for climate action, land defense, a just transition, environmental justice. Meanwhile, their efforts face many barriers across scales including active suppression. This pressure can contribute to burnout that often causes leaders to abandon their organizing.

When organizers leave this work, the health and empowerment of communities suffer. This means that many environmental and climate issues can continue without attention, protection, or reprieve as the hard-earned knowledge of community leaders can be lost, and future efforts have to recreate strategies and learn how to achieve change. It is important to the continuation of just transition, land defender, and environmental justice movements that their perspectives and experiences are not lost, especially in these times of increasing climate change. Their stories and knowledge also needs to be amplified from local to global levels to guide and inform similar efforts with grounded and tested experience.

Podcast -  The podcast interview is facilitated as a 1:1 between the audience and the featured leader(s),  so audiences are able to learn about just transition, land defender,  environmental justice issues in addition to organizing highlights and strategies through authentic, fluid, and sensory storytelling. We are committed to supporting data sovereignty, and participants will be able to determine usage and anonymity of their materials at any time.
