In her political guidelines, President von der Leyen has committed to presenting an ambitious European Oceans Pact this term. The content of this pact will directly impact our communities, ecosystems and industries across the EU. The challenges are many, from developping industrial value chains of the blue economy to protecting marine life and preserving our oceans’ role for a healthy planet.

On 2 October at 18:00, Christophe Clergeau MEP will host a social event in the former Members Bar (SPINELLI 0, above the canteen), with drinks and food provided.

This event will be a first opportunity for Members to exchange on the Oceans Pact and the role the European Parliament can play to shape its ambitions and ensure it becomes a European success story. Join me, representatives of Europe Jacques Delors and CPMR, NGO members, and MEPs part of the SEArica intergroup to become part of the conversation on the EU’s blue future.

This social event will also be an opportunity to mark the closing of the Ocean Week, organised on 1 and 2 October by a coalition of Blue NGOs, marking the end of the first important Ocean-dedicated rendez-vous in Parliament this year.
