ICHRP U.S. Launch: First Gathering of US-Based Member Organizations of ICHRP
In the wake of an all-time high human rights crisis in the Philippines, the United States-based Global Council members of ICHRP and the Secretariat for US ICHRP work are calling for a first national gathering of US-based friends and member organizations of ICHRP.
The worsening human rights situation in the Philippines calls for peace and justice advocates everywhere to respond with a sense of urgency and with stronger coordination. ICHRP members and friends here in the United States can indeed make more meaningful and expeditious contributions to the over-all efforts of the Filipino masses to defend their rights and to pursue a just and lasting peace. The time is right to realize the vision of ICHRP in its 2015 General Program of Action that “an ICHRP-US Structure be formalized by the end of 2017.” We shall, in this gathering, launch ICHRP-US!
On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day 2017, let us, as member organizations, networks, and friends of ICHRP in United States, gather in Vancouver, Washington on December 9, 2017, from 10am to 6pm PST to:
a) inspire each other to stand up for human rights in the Philippines and for the Filipino people’s rights & struggles;
b) launch our first national campaign as ICHRP-US;
c) form a mechanism or structure for coordination and support among ICHRP members and friends in the US;
d) make a public announcement of the presence of ICHRP in the US and our message to the American people.
