IATSE Local 51 is NOT an employer. We are a Labor Union and function as a hiring hall. Employers contact us and we dispatch the work from there according to seniority and qualifications to do each job.

What this means: There is not a steady, consistent flow of work because the amount of work available is dependent on what work we have from employers to dispatch. Additionally, we have to go through everyone on our Seniority List before we get to the Casual Work Roster, which is where EVERYONE that works with us starts.

There will be days or weeks when there is enough work for everyone on the Seniority List, and the Casual Work Roster, but that does not happen consistently, and there are a lot of people on the Casual Work Roster.

On the Casual Work Roster, we can not make any guarantees about the quantity or consistency of work that will make it to anyone. That being said, if you are very experienced and highly skilled, this can increase the amount of work available to you. Other things that impact whether or not you might be a good fit for IATSE Local 51 are your attitude, work ethic, and ability to be a team player.
