Field trip details:
Thorne’s Field Trip Program enables youth to visit Sombrero Marsh and participate in hands-on, outdoor exploration that connects kids to nature in engaging and memorable ways. Thorne offers a 2nd grade field trip program that enhances classroom learning for Boulder Valley School District students at Sombrero Marsh in Boulder and for St. Vrain Valley School District students at Sandstone Ranch in Longmont. In addition, Thorne also offers customizable field trips for schools and youth organizations.
The 2nd grade field trips to Sombrero Marsh are a unique partnership between Thorne Nature Experience, Boulder Valley School District, and the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks. Through this partnership, 2nd grade BVSD classrooms are offered one FREE field trip per school year, including busing, to visit Sombrero Marsh. The field trip curriculum is correlated to School District Standards in Science and is approved by BVSD.
Field Trip dates are filled on a first come first served basis with special priority given to any BVSD 2nd grade schools who were turned away from previous school years. Field Trip dates are assigned on a rolling basis. You will be asked for your school contact information, preferred dates, and back-up dates in this application. Complete this registration form as early as you can for the best chance at receiving a trip on your preferred dates.
Only one teacher from your school needs to fill out this form.
