If you answered "other zip code" on the question above, you must read and sign this agreement: The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and the Student are non-residents of the North Conejos School District (School District) as defined by applicable provisions of the Colorado Revised Statutes. The School District, pursuant to those laws, has the authority, but no obligation, to enroll the Student in the District on such terms and conditions as it may establish in its sole discretion.
The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and the Student acknowledge such authority and understand that while they have the right to a free public education within the school district of their residence, they nevertheless desire to enroll in the North Conejos School District pursuant of the terms and conditions set forth herein.
Therefore, in consideration of the mutual covenants and conditions hereinafter set forth, the parties agree as follows: All applications for non-resident enrollment shall be considered on a space available basis. The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and the Student understand and agree that final approval of their application for enrollment shall be made by the Administration. No student will be recommended for enrollment or re-enrollment who has not demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Administration that he or she has been and/or will be exemplary in behavior and attitude at school. This shall include, but shall not necessarily be limited to the following:
*Regular and punctual attendance at school in assigned classes and full compliance at all times with the provisions of the Colorado School Attendance Law: *Maximum of 7 parent/guardian excused absences per semester.
*Positive and cooperative behavior and attitude with peers, teachers, and administrators.
*No more than 2 written offenses with consequences per calendar year.
*No more than 1 major offense per calendar year. Offenses from previous school may be considered.
*Maintenance of standards for scholastic achievement as measured by class participation and must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above.
*Compliance at all times with policies, rules, procedures, and directives issued by the school district, its administrators, teachers and staff.
*Participate in all state and national mandated assessments and achieve a partially proficient or above rating on CMAS.
Conditions of Acceptance: The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and Student understand that, even though accepted for enrollment, the Student’s privilege of attending school in the North Conejos School District is conditional.
While attending a school within the School District, the Student must comply at all times with the conditions of his or her acceptance, as contained in item #1 of agreement.
In addition, the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and the Student understand that, if accepted, the student will have probationary status for the time of his/her enrollment as a nonresident student. The School District may for any reason and at any time withdraw the student from enrollment in the School District for any of the following reasons:
The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and the Student understand that if they become dissatisfied with any aspect of the education being provided by the School District, their exclusive remedy is to withdraw the Student from the School District. Exclusion:
Any questions concerning whether the Student is in compliance with the terms of the agreement shall be determined by the principal of the school in which the Student is enrolled.
If admission is denied or revoked, the Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and the Student may, upon a written request, have the matter subsequently reviewed by the Superintendent if the request is received within five (5) working days of the principal’s decision. The Superintendent’s decision is final.
The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and the Student understand that the Student may be excluded from attending school during the pending review.
