This presentation, for librarians, library staff, and community partners provides an overview of ideas to conduct health
outreach and offer health programs to the public. Participants will learn how to introduce community members to
resources from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and other reputable agencies in fun and engaging ways.

This interactive workshop will emphasize the active role one can have in their own healthcare through the patient-doctor relationship. A “program in a box”, Engage for Health, has been developed and piloted in public libraries in partnership with health care providers. This program offers library staff and community partners a fully assembled program for their public. The toolkit for the Engage for Health program includes the presentation slides, speaker notes, role play exercise, pre-post evaluation form, promotional poster and logo and is freely available.

• Locate county level information on health needs within their community
• Locate relevant NLM consumer health resources for specific target populations
