The purpose of the Trauma in the Workplace Survey is to document experiences of workplace violence and the trauma reactions that people may be experiencing. Survey data will help inform comprehensive safety and support measures for all Multnomah County employees.
Our goal is to use survey data as objective information that can inform collaborations across Multnomah County represented staff, County leadership, State Legislators and others to develop and appropriately staff and fund comprehensive workplace safety protocols and trauma informed support for all Multnomah County employees. Some of our objectives to accomplish this goal are:
- To evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs, policies and procedures
- To expand trauma informed support services for all Multnomah County employees
- Create a charter
- Demonstrate impacts to help inform the design of program(s), policies, procedures, training, and resources that help support Multnomah County employees who in turn support our communities.
Some questions ask for specific details regarding experiences with workplace violence and/or trauma experiences. If you feel that answering these questions may cause you additional trauma and/or harm, please take care of yourself and feel free to skip answering those questions.
Some examples of psychological and physiological symptoms of trauma are: sleep problems, exhaustion, feelings of hopelessness and/or helplessness, feeling overwhelmed, loss of agency, fear, interpersonal conflict, difficulty completing work tasks, confusion, isolation, feeling apathetic, sadness, grief, denial, mood swings, anxiety, agitation, concentration/memory problems, feeling emotional numb, dissociation.
