Exocolonist Call for Submissions
Hello! Thank you for your interest in creating art for our upcoming game, I Was a Teenage Exocolonist:
PLEASE NOTE: All one hundred artists have now been selected and contacted. You are welcome to submit your portfolio for review in the case someone withdraws or does not complete their card.
Exocolonist's card battling system has SO many cards, and we need your help to fill them with art! We're looking for 100 artists to draw 100 cards. If selected, you'll be paid $150 USD for your art piece and credited in the game.
Exocolonist has a distinct art direction, but don't be discouraged if you don't match it entirely, or even at all: we're looking for illustrators of all styles and stripes! Hobbyist artists, students, and especially artists from marginalized backgrounds are encouraged to submit their portfolios.
If selected, you'll be sent a style guide and a choice of cards so you can pick the one that speaks to you. Some will feature our characters, creatures, places and objects, and some are more abstract concepts. All art must be newly created specifically for this event. Final art is due on September 30th. We can't guarantee we'll be able to accept late work.
This is a legal agreement! Don't miss the fine print at the bottom.

By submitting this form, you agree that:
1) You hereby grant Northway Games Corp a worldwide, transferrable, royalty-free, exclusive license to use your submitted art in the game I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, on all platforms and in all versions, anywhere the game appears including in trailers or gameplay videos. We may also post your art on social media as promotion for the game, or include it in an artbook for the game. Other uses (eg for other merchandise) must be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. You retain ownership of the work and may display it or sell prints of it, but may not license it to another game.
2) We might edit your work! This may include resizing to better fit our template, or adjusting the colors, or much deeper edits; even using it as a base to create a second 'upgraded' version of the card. It might end up on a different card than you'd chosen. We will try to show your original version when sharing it on social media, and will always credit you and include a link to your social media or portfolio.
3) You will only deliver original new work that you create for this event. You can use characters and designs from Exocolonist, but not ones from other games or media that you don't own the rights to. If your work is claimed to infringe on the rights of others, you will defend Northway Games against these claims and you will be responsible for any damages.
4) We'll send a payment of $150 USD via your chosen method one week after the event ends on September 30, provided we receive your final art by that deadline.
