Listening Church:  Surveys about the Church from Rome & Richmond
The Church wants to hear from you! Below are surveys from Saint Bridget and the Vatican. You do not have to answer every question, but the more response we get, the better insight we'll have into our community. Your voice matters and we are eager to listen!

Section One features three questions that originate in Rome and give our parish the opportunity to participate in the Universal Church's 2022 Synod on Synodality. Your responses will contribute to the discernment of future decisions at the Universal Church level.

Section Two offers five questions about central areas of Saint Bridget parish life, assessing what parishioners think we do well and where we can improve. These responses will contribute to the discernment of future decisions at the parish level.

Your responses will prepare us for in-person gatherings after all Masses on January 8th and 9th where the community will go through a process to assess results and discern possible outcomes.

The term "synod" is used by the church to refer to a process of collaborative discernment where, through community input and prayer, feedback can be gathered and decisions about the church can be discerned.

What role do you see the Church’s voice playing in the world today? Consider social, political, religious, and cultural contexts. Are there areas on which the Church should be more or less focused?
How equipped are parishioners to live their faith publicly? Do our liturgies and preaching encourage the community to live lives of faith? How common is it for parishioners to have a ministry or apostolate? What could be done to give parishioners more of a voice in church leadership?
What people or demographics have an outsized voice in the church, and who is left out?
Liturgy & Worship: What do we do well at Saint Bridget? Where is there room to grow?
Consider: Mass and Sacraments, Prayer Opportunities, Music, Environment, Homilies, etc.
Faith Formation: What do we do well? Where is there room to grow?
Consider Sacramental preparation (Baptism, Marriage, First Communion, Confirmation), Bible studies, education, and formation for adults, teens, and children.
Peace and Justice: What do we do well? Where is there room to grow?
Consider our Human Concerns ministries, outreach to the needy of the community and the Corporal Works of Mercy (feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned, etc.). Consider also our participation in and advocacy for causes consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church at the local, state, and national level.
Evangelization: What do we do well? Where is there room to grow?
Consider the Catholic Culture of our parish. Do parishioners have a vocabulary to talk about their faith and are we comfortable putting our faith into practice and reaching beyond our walls to share our faith with others. Do we proclaim the Gospel in the words and actions of our lives? Are we welcoming and inviting to others?
Community: What do we do well? Where is there room to grow?
From social gatherings and celebrations to friendships and relationships across the parish. Do parishioners connect and support one another? Is our congregation representative of our community?
