JHYM Retreat Oct. 16-18, 2020
This form is to register for the JHYM Retreat, Oct. 16-18, 2020 happening remotely via Zoom. This is a weekend retreat for New England youth in grades 6th through 8th who are Quaker or interested in the Quaker way and Quaker community. JHYM strives to seek and find that of God in ourselves and in each other within the faith tradition and practice of Friends. As we build our community, we share and explore what it means, looks and feels like to be a Quaker in the 21st Century. We also have a lot of fun!
Every year is uniquely it's own. This retreat will be an important time to lay the foundation for this year.
You can read more about our program - including how we choose staff - here:
This retreat will be held on Zoom:
Friday from 7:00-9:00PM
Saturday from 10:30-12:30PM, 3:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM
Sunday from 10:00-11:00AM
In order to participate, JH'ers will need access to a computer, tablet, phone or other device with a webcam, and a space where they can go that is quiet and at least somewhat private. If you will have trouble getting access to one of these things, reach out to Gretchen for help.
Registrations are preferred by October 3rd. Anyone registered after this date may not receive a package in the mail with retreat materials.
The cost to host this retreat has been greatly reduced and we understand families may be under considerable financial strain at this time. Children may participate free of charge. We appreciate donations of any amount you are led to contribute if able. Information on how to donate will be included in the pre-retreat email.
Please use one form per child. Thank you!

How familiar are you and your JH'er with using Zoom or other webcasting programs?
I have no idea and will need a training!
I am somewhat familiar but may need some help.
I am a Zooming pro!
Other concerns you may have -- please check all that apply.
More than one youth in your house will be sharing the same screen.
Our internet connection is spotty/unreliable.
Our audio is not great. (We can talk about setting up the audio via a separate phone.)
We don't have access to a computer.
This JH'er will not have access to a cell phone for the Saturday Afternoon walk and talk with one other JH'er.
I'm not sure how this will go, but we want to give it a try.
Is there anything else we should know in order to help this JH'er have a fun and positive retreat experience?
