Expression Of Interest To Serve On Fulton County Library Board of Trustees
Thank you for your interest in serving the Fulton County Library!
The Fulton County Library is always pleased to accept offers to volunteer for service on our Board of Trustees. The library is fortunate to have civic-minded, progressive volunteers serving the library who are committed to moving the library forward in a positive manner.
The expectations of trustees:
*Respect the important role libraries play in the life of the community.
*Attend meetings regularly. Every second Monday of each month at 5:30 at the McConnellsburg Library location or virtually.
*Share your skills by participating actively on at least one committee and attend committee meetings.
*Review minutes and stay well informed regarding the organization's fiscal and program work. Stay current on library trends and issues.
*Exercise discretion and respect confidentiality outside board meetings.
*Avoid conflicts of interest and put personal agendas aside when making decisions.
*Speak on behalf of the organization to the community.
*Advocate for the library with elected officials and in the community.
*Understand your role and how it differs from the role of the library director.
*Have an open mind and respect different viewpoints.
*Work cooperatively with other board members.
*Focus on a secure future for the library through fundraising activities.
*Approach colleagues and friends for contributions through such activities as selling tickets for special events and appending notes to fundraising letters.
*Participate actively in library programs, activities, and special events.
*Agree to participate without financial compensation.
*Adhere to the Policies, By-Laws, and Procedures set forth by the Board of Trustees.
