GOTR of Greater Richmond Volunteer Opportunities
Read the various descriptions below of ways you can get plugged in with GOTR of Greater Richmond!
Please mark all committees or opportunities you are interested in joining! A follow up email will be sent to you from our Volunteer Coordinator, Carrie Parker.

Please note: Some committees will form sooner than others and each committee will require various time commitments. Expressing your interest below does not guarantee placement on a committee. To Coach, a Coach Application is required and all volunteers who work with the girls will need to complete and pass a background check.

Coaching
You get to experience the program first hand, feel a sense of accomplishment that you have made a difference in the lives of girls and have a ton of fun with your team of coaches and incredible girls! Volunteer to coach a team twice a week for twelve weeks as new sites open up in the area. You will be trained to deliver the curriculum and no running experience is needed. Coaching a Girls on the Run team will change you as you change the lives of the girls you coach!

Running Buddies
A Girls on the Run® Running Buddy must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades. The Running Buddy provides encouragement and support to their buddy throughout the course of the season by attending 4-6 practices (this number includes the practice 5k and real 5k experience). Buddies can share notes of encouragement can be emailed or delivered to their buddy’s coaches. A Running Buddy acts as a personal cheerleader for their buddy by attending the practice 5k and the end of season 5k, where the Running Buddy completes the 5k with their buddy and expresses support and enthusiasm for her accomplishment! Some girls do not have family member or another family friend who are able to fulfill the role of a running buddy, making our community run buddies such a valued role. Sign up to run with a girl who may not have a friend or family member that is able to join her! Running Buddies need to be able to match the pace of their GOTR girl. All volunteer Running Buddies must complete and pass a $4.25 background check prior to working with a girl and are responsible for their own 5k registration.
5k Planning Committee
Plan and coordinate race day details ( registration and check in, posters for the girls, event set up, surprises for the girls) and support the end of season culminating 5K race. We partner with an existing race in December and are holding our own GOTR event in 2019. Our races are on Sunday, December 9th, 2018 and May 18th, 2019* (tentative date)
