Qualifying artists from Somerset, working in any artform, can apply for a free one-to-one surgery session with the aim of bringing a digital element to their current practice or planned work. Artist surgery sessions can be up to 3 hours in duration and can take place either online or at The Engine Room. Surgeries are not a replacement for training courses.
A qualifying artist is deemed as someone who is living or working in Somerset and is:
Someone who has previously received Ignite Somerset support
Someone who is creating work with and for communities in Somerset
A recent graduate (you must have graduated from an arts-related degree course in the last 18 months)
Where a piece of work is created as a result of the surgery you will be asked to provide a link to the work and to acknowledge support by way of a credit on the final piece. A credit is deemed as inclusion of the wording ‘supported by Ignite Somerset – a Somerset Film Initiative, funded by Arts Council England’ or the ‘Ignite Somerset’ logo (we will provide this).
Where there is a commissioner or funding body involved with the work that is being supported we must be made aware of this prior to the surgery taking place.
Artists who receive an Ignite surgery will be asked to complete an online evaluation form.
We cannot accept any liability for the work created as a result of this support.
Your application is deemed as acceptance of our terms and conditions, which can be found here:
