The purpose of this form is to check that the project aligns with what you're looking for; to get to know you as a singer; and to check practical details so that we can all have a great time together.

N.B.

Places are offered based on attitude, self-application, availability, and agreement to our Ts & Cs, as much as experience + ability. More than anything, we want to create an equal + supportive group who care as much about creating beautiful, meaningful music experiences as we do.

We offer places on a first serve basis, so apply as soon as you can. If you haven't heard from us by the week before our new term starts, it may be due to delays, or that you haven't provided all the infomation asked for. Please stay in touch if you are keen, and provide all info requested <3

VOCAL RANGE

We need to know what you can comfortably sing, so that we can put you in the right section for your voice.

Tell us your highest + lowest notes in relation to middle C on the piano. You will need a piano or keybooard for this.

N.B. We can't offer places without your range. Please be realistic about what you can comfortably sing :)

Helpful Tips:

- Choose a track that demonstrates your strengths clearly as a singer, in the range you wish to sing in.

- It does not need to be a professional recording, but if you are singing without accompaniment, please make sure that you can demonstrate a clear key.

- Don't send a link that will expire e.g. wetransfer, as this will delay the process.

REPERTOIRE

During most terms, we learn around 2 new songs, and include around 6-8 pre-existing songs from our repertoire.

Due to time, complexity & pace, sessions are for rehearsing, so singers are expected to pre-learn material ready enough to start singing with others.

We aim to be off score for main performances, but will always work towards this.

N.B. Due to the needs of creating a safe, enjoyable & respectful space for all participants & staff, Murmuration Choir maintains the right to ask any member to no longer take part in the project, or its extended community, without commitment to our Ts & Cs.

Covid-19 & Viruses: I am willing to follow government regulations, and refrain from attending choir sessions if testing positive, or showing any other contagious viral symptoms.

Photography / Film / Recording: I consent for my image & voice to be used (with respect) in the choir's publicity & releases.

Payment & Refund Policy: I agree to fulfilling payment for membership as requested, by the deadlines given. I understand that, due to the cost of making the choir happen, refunds and membership transfers aren't available for any other reason than the project’s own cancellation. This excludes cancellation due to Covid-19 regulations, and for individual sessions due to unforeseen circumstances e.g. delays, leadership illness, where replacement sessions are offered.

Health & Safety: I understand that working in large groups requires respect for necessary regulations that support the health & safety for everyone involved. I am willing to comply with these when asked, and to not put myself or others at risk during choir contact time. Murmuration Choir cannot be held liable for personal injury.

Mental Health & Physical Wellbeing: I understand that I am responsible for my own mental health & physical wellbeing when taking part in the project. I am able to use tools to manage any conditions that may negatively affect myself or others, and I have carefully considered whether taking part in a performing choir is the right choice for me.

Rehearsal Etiquette: I understand it is every choir member’s responsibility to attend rehearsals, be on time, prepared, read emails + updates and to listen / follow directions when asked, in order to get the most from our rehearsal time and fulfil what the project is offering to its singers + listeners.

Live Performing: I understand that when collaborating with external artists, Murmuration Choir cannot guarantee that their approach to learning and performing music will be as education or inclusion orientated as ours. Patience with different personalities and / or unforeseen technical challenges + limitations, is required as part of the behind-the-scenes reality of live music performance.

Anti-social Behaviour: I understand that the choir reserves the right to ask any member to leave the project, if showing behaviour that displays anti-scoial behaviour - including racism, sexism, sexual / emotional / physical harm, homophobia, disability discrimination, slander or other forms of disrespect towards others that cause them to feel unsafe, or no longer able to take part. This will be at the project’s own discretion, and refunds will not be offered.

Consent: I understand that it is my responsibility to ask for, offer and receive consent for activities that may involve light respectful touch e.g. back to back singing, group hugs, kinaesthetic listening exercises, and advocate for myself if I do not wish to take part.

Lost Property: I understand that it's my responsibility to take my things with me, and the choir / venues cannot guarantee storage for left items, their retrieval or safety.

Transparency: By submitting the application form, I agree that the information included is correct. If I have additional needs, I understand that it's my responsibility to advocate and self-prepare for these in advance, to ensure the best experience. The choir cannot be held responsible for issues that have not been clearly communicated or agreed to in advance of a term starting.

Venue Usage: I understand that I am not to take any items from venues without express permission from the project, e.g. food from the school fridge, or use facilities that have not been agreed upon e.g. kitchen oven, undesignated rooms. It is my responsibility to ask before using things that have not been agreed.
