Field Trips with School Kids to the Airpark
We will be taking two groups of elementary students down to the Airpark to explore the estuary and get to know more about the importance of habitats like Kus-kus-sum. We need volunteers to help at the various stations we will have set up. All volunteers are welcome to join an orientation prior to the outings. Lunch foods will be provided. Please sign up for the dates below!
Project Watershed Annual General Meeting, May 25, Old House Hotel and Spa
The AGM is 2 - 4 pm and we need people to help set up, tear down, sign in attendees and take donations.
Priming Salmon for Students, May 29 - June 1
We need volunteers to help paint wooden salmon cutouts with white paint. This will prime them for painting by children to go on the fence at Kus-kus-sum. We will supply all the materials.
BC Seafood Festival Signature Weekend, June 15 & 16
Join us for a 2 -4 hour shift at our fun interactive booth. Our activities will include salmon painting for Kus-kus-sum as well as selling fundraising items, signing up volunteers, signing up members and spreading the word about Project Watershed and Kus-kus-sum.
Saving the Salmon at Kus-kus-sum, June 20, 21, 22
Help hang the salmon that have been sponsored by people in our community and painted by school children who have learned about the Estuary and Kus-kus-sum, on the fence at Kus-kus-sum. Some volunteers will be needed to take donations and supervise painting.
National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21
A very popular event hosted by one of our partners in the Kus-kus-sum initiative, the K'omoks First Nation. We will have our regular display plus salmon painting for the Kus-kus-sum fence. Volunteers will be asked to do a 3.5 hour shift.
