The 38th Minimalen Short Film Festival takes place on 13–18 January 2026 at Nova kinosenter and Cinemateket Trondheim. As a volunteer at Minimalen, you help create a nice experience for the audience and our guests, you get to see a bunch of movies, and you meet new people.
You'll be working approx. 20 hours and get a festival pass. Most of the volunteers work during the festival, but the distribution of posters and catalogues is mostly done in the weeks before.
You have to be at least 18 years old to volunteer at Minimalen.
Info and Accreditation
Here you'll be manning our info desk at Nova. You'll help the audience with their questions, and hand out the accreditations for volunteers and invited guests. You're service-minded and prepared for both hectic and calmer shifts.
Cinema Host
This is the largest group of volunteers at Minimalen. You'll be working together with a partner, and during your shift you'll switch between manning the door and the screening room. When you're inside, you'll be able to watch films while working!
Party- and Event Host
Do you enjoy socializing, chatting about film and setting a nice mood? We need hosts to man the door at several parties and other events during the festival, and you'll usually also get to mingle with the guests. You keep track of the number of participants, and contribute to a positive atmosphere.
Technical Assistant
At some of our events we'll need volunteers with basic technical skills. You'll be asked to do things like helping panelists with their microphones, playing video clips from a computer, and making sure the volume is ok.
Distribution PR
Does it sound tempting to take a walk while volunteering for Minimalen? Then you're a good fit for the distribution gang! You'll be putting up posters and delivering catalogues around Trondheim, mainly Midtbyen, in the weeks before the festival.
Photographer
We need skilled photographers to document our event. You have your own camera (cell phone isn't enough) and enjoy taking photos of both stage, audience and parties. You'll send us the photos via digital transfer shortly after each event. Feel free to link to examples of previous work in your application, and let us know if you're also interested in working with social media!
Driver
Our drivers take our guests to and from Værnes airport. Some like to chat, while others prefer a quiet ride – you're good with either, and you're also prepared to help the guests with their luggage. You have a valid driver's licence, we provide a rental car.
